Portugal's Bernardo Silva was asked about his late kick on Arsenal captain Odegaard - he delivered a four-word response

Bernardo Silva issued a four-word response when asked what furious Martin Odegaard said to him following their clash during Sunday’s UEFA Nations League encounter between Portugal and Norway.

Portugal sealed a 2-1 win in Oslo thanks to goals either side of half-time from Joao Felix and Goncalo Ramos. Erling Haaland scored for the home side but it’s Portugal who top Group D after two consecutive wins.

Legendary Portuguese goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo was an unused substitute during the match. New Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus opted to send Bernardo Silva on as his fifth and final sub, withdrawing Pedro Neto in the 87th minute.

Although Silva was only on the pitch for the final few minutes, the Manchester City legend - who signed for Real Madrid in the summer - still managed to infuriate Arsenal captain Odegaard with a kick to the back of the legs.

Odegaard had already released the ball when Silva delivered the sneaky kick. The Norway star went down in pain while Silva received a yellow card.

Moments later, a fuming Odegaard was seen confronting Silva over the challenge. Watch the footage below:

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who already has concerns over German forward Kai Havertz , will be praying Odegaard hasn’t been injured by Silva’s challenge.

Meanwhile, Silva has further irritated Arsenal supporters on social media with his response when asked what Odegaard said to him.

“What did Odegaard say to you after the tackle? Odegaard was upset with the tackle,” a reporter said to the Portugal star.

Silva, without stopping, said as he left the building: “It’s football, my friend.” Watch the clip below :

Silva and Odegaard meet again on Sunday, October 4 as Norway and Portugal go head-to-head for the second time in a week.

Before then, Norway face Wales on Thursday, while Portugal travel to Denmark.

At this stage, it’s unclear whether Odegaard will feature against Wales.

Arteta will be hoping his captain is 100 per cent fit for Arsenal’s first Premier League clash after the international break against Leeds United on October 10.

The Gunners suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to Brighton before the three-week interval and will be desperate to get back to winning ways at the Emirates Stadium in order to remain within touching distance of Manchester City, who have won all five of their opening fixtures but now face an uncertain future after they were reportedly found guilty of 114 Premier League charges .
