Champions League: Arteta Spotted 'Raging' at 3 Arsenal Players in Napoli Game

Footage of the moment has emerged - Arteta was absolutely livid on the sidelines.

Arsenal got their Champions League campaign off to a winning start on Wednesday evening as they defeated Napoli at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The Gunners came so close to becoming champions of Europe for the first time last season, but they fell at the final hurdle as they were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.

They will be looking to go one step further this time round, and they started their campaign with a hard-fought victory over Napoli.

Martin Odegaard scored the only goal of the game in the 75th minute as the Gunners won 1-0 and picked up all three points.

Mikel Arteta, considered one of the best managers in the world , is always very animated on the touchline, and he was once again against Napoli as he raged at three of his players.

Arsenal had a golden opportunity to extend their lead and put the result beyond all doubt late on when they hit Napoli on the counter in the 85th minute.

Noni Madueke saw his effort saved by Napoli goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić and then Christos Tzolis saw his effort blocked on the line by a Napoli defender.

Madueke and Tzolis, as well as Kai Havertz, did not bother chasing back when Napoli countered. That infuriated Arteta, who could be seen going ballistic on the touchline.

Lucy Ward, who was co-commentating on the game for TNT Sports, noticed his anger. She said:

> "Mikel Arteta was absolutely raging on the sidelines that Havertz, Madueke and Tzolis weren’t recovering after that attack. It was so interesting. As the Arsenal attack finished, those three all sort of ambled back, and Mikel Arteta ran down the sidelines and shouted at them to recover."

Despite his anger late in the match, Arteta was happy with the result and his side's performance. He said, per Arsenal's official website:

> "Very, very happy, the way we attacked the game from the very first minute, the way we competed, the excitement that we had, how we had to attack them, how we had to disorganise them, the purpose, the quality, the amount of chances that we generated.

> "For sure, again, the scoreline has to reflect a very different result. We will get there, because if we are a bit more precise, it will be much bigger, but to do what we've done today in this stadium against this opponent is remarkable from the team."

He added: "When you talk about people being clinical, the reality is that they score one in every five or six shots on target. That's being clinical. So, if we generate more volume, we will score more goals.

> "The number of players that got into this situation, the amount of situations that we were generating in various ways was something that pleased me a lot, and the fact that obviously it's 1-0 at the end.

> "To suffer, they had that situation with Kevin [De Bruyne] inside the box, that any other day something different could have happened, but I'm really pleased, because we won the game, and I think we fully deserved to win."

Arsenal return to action on Saturday, August 12, when they face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Arsenal will be hoping to make it four wins from four to begin their Premier League campaign.
