Better Than Camara: Liverpool Eye Move for Aurelien Tchouameni

· GiveMeSport

Liverpool are eyeing a move for a top Real Madrid star, and he's even better than Lamine Camara.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move to bolster their midfield in the upcoming transfer windows, with Andoni Iraola looking to add to his squad.

The Reds brought in Victor Munoz, Ronald Araujo, and Bradley Barcola this summer, alongside Jeremy Jacquet, who originally signed in January, while they saw all of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate, and Curtis Jones depart.

Star midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has also revealed that there are currently no talks ongoing for a new contract to keep him at the club beyond his current deal, which is due to expire in 2028, leading to added speculation that there are plans for a new midfielder to become part of the squad at Anfield.

GIVEMESPORT sources understand that Monaco star Lamine Camara is someone being closely looked at following his move to Chelsea collapsing in the summer, while Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton is also understood to be a long-term target for the Reds.

But according to a report by Football Insider , Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni has also been considered for a fresh approach to Anfield, and the club are looking at getting a deal done.

Tchouameni was strongly linked with a move away from the Bernabeu this past summer, with Man Utd very keen, before he signed a new contract to stay in Madrid. However, the France star has started just twice in all competitions this season under Jose Mourinho, falling behind Federico Valverde, Bernardo Silva and Eduardo Camavinga in the pecking order.

Per the report, Tchouameni is not someone that Real Madrid want to sell at this stage, and the player himself is not looking for a move away either. But Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the situation, and are considering revisiting their historical interest.

The club have shown in the past that they are not afraid to spend big on players that they feel fit their squad perfectly, and Tchouameni would certainly fall into that category - especially moreso than the likes of Camara and Wharton.

Widely considered to be one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, Tchouameni would be a genuinely gamechanging signing for Liverpool's midfield.

Iraola is a manager who likes control but forward-thinking in his play, and the France star is someone who can break lines with his passing and keep up with strong runners thanks to his excellent physical duels.

Described as 'world-class' , any deal would undoubtedly be expensive. But the 26-year-old would be a major upgrade on current options in the holding role Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch, while he is also definitely better than Camara and Wharton right now.

Bringing in a top star like that would only help take the squad up to the next level, and regardless of the fee, it would be a deal worth doing.
