Erling Haaland Next Club: 10 Favourites to Sign Man City Forward

· GiveMeSport

Erling Haaland could have a big decision to make if Manchester City are relegated from the Premier League after being found guilty of 114 charges.

Manchester City have been found guilty on 114 of the 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League regarding financial fair play breaches. Many clubs are now circling to see how they can benefit from any punishment the Citizens are to receive.

With the club facing 114 charges, all in nine years from 2009 to 2018, clubs will be demanding compensation for any losses they suffered in those years due to lack of sporting success due to City.

Due to this being arguably the biggest verdict given in football history, those in the footballing world are unsure as to what punishment City could be facing, with many possible ideas being floated. The Citizens could be looking at possibly being stripped of any titles won during that period, a heavy point deduction in future seasons, or even relegation from the Premier League to the lower tiers.

Erling Haaland would undoubtedly be a player of high interest to all big clubs across the globe, and rumours have circulated that he could potentially have a relegation release clause in his contract.

However, Spanish outlet SPORT reported that Haaland's current contract does not include a relegation release clause, meaning any chance of an easier exit is impossible, and a hefty fee will be demanded should Haaland leave.

So, if he were to leave, who would be favourites to sign the Norwegian? Well, according to SkyBet odds, here are the top 10.

The list starts with a rather outlandish entry, but it makes sense why the club is included. Haaland's father, Alf-Inge, played for Leeds during his playing career, and Erling grew up in the Yorkshire city whilst his dad was there.

Apart from the obvious connection with the club, a move to Leeds is virtually impossible for Haaland, considering the wages that he is on and the fee City would demand.

Leeds have enjoyed a strong start to the Premier League this season, but they are still some way off before they can start pulling off these signings.

Atletico are an interesting outsider for Haaland, but again their chances are very slim. They still have Julian Alvarez , who was previously linked with Arsenal and Barcelona. If they were to lose Alvarez, someone like Haaland would be the dream replacement for the club, but it would be a very ambitious dream.

They would have to compete with their rivals Real Madrid, as well as Barcelona, PSG and other top clubs, making this a rather speculative possibility.

United held strong interest in Haaland prior to his move to Manchester City and even Borussia Dortmund, but they were unable to pull the deal off. Ole Gunnar Solskjær had begged the club to sign Haaland when he was manager, but the club refused to pay the fee demanded at the time.

Their chances of signing him now remain unlikely, given the obvious rivalry between the two clubs, and their being other enticing options the Norwegian may prefer.

Like United, Chelsea were a club heavily linked with Haaland during his time at Borussia Dortmund. Whilst there is less of a rivalry between City and Chelsea, it would still be a tough deal, as City would demand a big fee to sell to Premier League rivals.

Whilst Chelsea have the financial backing to spend heavily, their chances of convincing the Norwegian to move, especially during a time when the club are still building from a tough few years, remain unlikely.

Dortmund take the sixth spot on the list, and it's an obvious name because of Haaland's history with the club. In Germany, he built his reputation as one of the most sought-after strikers, scoring at an extraordinary rate before joining City.

A return would have enormous sentimental appeal and would be a remarkable story. However, the financial realities make the move difficult. Dortmund would be competing with the richest clubs in Europe for a player who would demand an enormous fee and salary.

PSG have been interested in Haaland previously and were competing to sign him before he chose Manchester City . The club would absolutely have the ability to construct a deal around the superstar forward.

Haaland could theoretically become the figurehead of PSG and be the poster boy they have been looking for post- Mbappe . The question is whether PSG would prioritise another massive investment, particularly when their previous strategy has been to develop a broader squad of young talent rather than just superstar names.

Arsenal are the highest-placed Premier League club on this list, but it would be unlikely for them considering how much of a rivalry they have with City in the Premier League. The Gunners have been pursuing elite attacking talent in recent years, being heavily linked with Julian Alvarez in the previous window.

Whilst Haaland would obviously represent a huge upgrade at the club in terms of proven goalscorers, prying Haaland away from a huge Premier League rival would make negotiations and finances behind the deal extremely difficult.

The odds represent their presence as one of the best clubs in the world right now and their financial capabilities, but there is certainly a higher chance of Haaland moving elsewhere.

Like some others on this list, Barcelona have been connected with Haaland in the past, being heavily interested in him before his time at City and even during his time at the Etihad.

The sporting logic is straightforward to understand. The club want an elite striker who can be the focal point of an attack. However, their financial position would be a huge challenge for the Spanish club to pull off a deal.

Bayern being so far up the list is surprising, considering they already have one of the best strikers in the world . Haaland obviously already knows the league extremely well, dominating the Bundesliga when he was at Dortmund.

Harry Kane is close to extending his contract at Bayern, therefore raising doubts over whether the club need Haaland, but considering the Norwegian is younger, he would be the perfect replacement.

It's fairly easy to understand how Real Madrid take the top spot. They, too, have been heavily linked with Haaland previously. The attraction is obvious: Haaland is one of the best in the world, and Real Madrid are one of the best clubs in the world.

Madrid are also one of the only clubs capable of having the financial power to absorb the huge fee and wages demanded for Haaland's signature. The striker may choose to seek a new adventure abroad, and competing with one of the biggest clubs in the world is a no-brainer.
