Man Utd want Guirassy 'life insurance' after Brobbey transfer blocked

· GiveMeSport

Man Utd won't be getting their hands on Brian Brobbey, but they are not giving up on Serhou Guirassy.

Manchester United are set to focus their striker search on Serhou Guirassy after being told they cannot land an in-form Premier League frontman they are said to have liked the look of. The Red Devils are looking short up top, albeit more so with Benjamin Sesko having dealt with an injury issue of late.

There are question marks over Sesko, but he is the most natural striker in the squad, and perhaps the only option that comes close to being a striker of United's standard. Matheus Cunha has plenty to offer, but while he can play in the role, he is more naturally either a winger or an attacker who is best played just off the striker. The other option is Joshua Zirkzee , and while he is a natural striker, he does not look as though he can match the standards required at Old Trafford.

Whether it is in January or the summer, United are very likely to be on the lookout for a new striker, and a few options have already been floated. One of them is Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey, but according to FlashScore , the Black Cats are ruling out the sale of their star man, who has netted three times in five Premier League games so far this season.

Meanwhile, TeamTalk report that United could yet make a move for a striker in the January transfer window, and Borussia Dortmund star Guirassy is said to be on their shortlist amid impressive form for Dortmund. The 30-year-old has scored twice in four league appearances this season, and that follows 17 goals in 33 league games last season, while he also scored four and assisted as many in 10 Champions League appearances last season. The season before, Guirassy netted 21 goals in 30 league appearances, and it must be said, based on the last couple of seasons, he has been one of the most reliable goalscorers in European football.

Dortmund boss Niko Kovac said of Guirassy last year:

> “I've used the term ‘life insurance’ several times myself. > > "Serhou is a very important player for us. Someone who scores goals – even in impossible situations. He was under pressure for the first goal, was saved, and yet he still scored. Top striker! Bayern has Kane, City has Haaland and we have Guirassy.”
