· GiveMeSport

David de Gea asks very interesting Man Utd question in viral post about Man City being found guilty.

The footballing world has been reacting to the huge news coming from the Premier League, as Manchester City were found guilty of 'virtually all' of their 115 charges relating to breaching financial fair play rules.

The charges were first brought against the Blues in 2023, with a two-year process undertaken by an independent commission finding the side guilty, with appropriate sanctions set to be confirmed in the future. However, any punishments are still going to take some time, as City will be given the chance to appeal, therefore prolonging the process.

Reports have emerged of possible punishments the Citizens could receive following the outcome of their hearing, with sanctions ranging from sporting sanctions, such as stripping the club of their titles or heavy points deductions in the coming years.

Following these reports, many have taken to social media to react to the news, with ex-players even claiming that they could possibly be awarded a Premier League title.

His comments have come to light following the outcome of the independent commission's hearing today...

With reports that City could be stripped of any titles won during the time period the charges relate to, clubs and players will not be keen to see if there is a possibility they could be awarded champions many years later.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea , asked via X: "So... let's talk. How many Premier League titles have I won then?"

Another former Manchester United player, Rio Ferdinand , also took to X upon the news breaking. One post read, "Another Premier League medal to be added to the cabinet," whilst following up with separate posts claiming managers Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should add one Premier League title to their record, considering they finished runners-up to City in seasons when the Blues were allegedly breaching financial fair play rules.

Ferdinand also claimed he should be awarded further titles, posting an AI-generated photo of him alongside multiple Premier League medals. Liverpool could be another side that benefits from the sanctions, considering they finished runners-up to City during the time period currently under scrutiny.

Following the news today, there are a long list of clubs and players who will want to see strong punishment for City, especially considering they could heavily benefit from the Citizens being stripped of former successes.

De Gea has previously won the Premier League with Manchester United, but he could be set to receive potentially two more between 2009 and 2018, if the Premier League decide that City should be stripped of their previous titles and therefore handing the title during those seasons to the runners-up.

It has already been reported that Manchester United are analysing their possible financial losses during the period when City were breaching the financial fair play rules, with the Red Devils attempting to see whether they could be entitled to not only sporting achievements, but a heavy compensation payout for the titles they would've won during those times.

Not only did Manchester United finish runners-up to their rivals three times in the nine years, but they also missed out on the Champions League to Manchester City during 2016 on goal difference, which would have cost the club millions of pounds.

The Prime Minister was asked for his opinion immediately after the punishment was announced, and he gave his thoughts straight away...
