Sources: Manchester City are expected to appeal after being found guilty of 114 financial charges by the Premier League.

Manchester City are expected to appeal after being found guilty of 114 financial charges by an independent panel, GIVEMESPORT sources understand.

News emerged on Friday afternoon that the Cityzens had been found guilty on 'virtually all' of the charges relating to breaches of the Premier League's financial rules between 2009 and 2018, after years of ongoing disciplinary action behind the scenes.

City have maintained their innocence throughout the entire process, despite being hit with 115 charges, but they have now been found guilty of 114 of those charges.

There are a number of different punishments that City could face, including points deductions, being stripped of titles, expulsion from the Premier League, and fines, but that is all unclear at the moment.

But GIVEMESPORT sources understand that City are preparing to lodge a formal appeal, as they continue to stand by their stance that they have done nothing wrong.

GMS senior football correspondent Ben jacobs said:

> "The independent panel ruling on Manchester City's 115 charges have found the club guilty on most of them, and Premier League clubs, according to my information, were updated on the case at a shareholders' meeting on Thursday, and yet Manchester City are expected to appeal," he said.

> "That appeal is not without complications.

> "Now my understanding is the Premier League are confident on a satisfactory conclusion, but there's no guarantee the case is resolved imminently in a matter of days or even weeks because of the potential appeal process.

> "Sanctions range from suspended punishments or fines to points deductions and even expulsion from the league, and punishments can potentially be applied whilst an appeal is ongoing as well.

> "From City's perspective, it's business as usual for now.

> "The next steps are the appeal, which still could take some time, the possibility of a settlement, but it's a lot harder, and then what kind of punishment.

> "There could be retrospective punishment where titles are stripped, for example. There could be a financial punishment, there could be a points deduction, there could be an expulsion. And as City digest this and assess what their legal position is, they will then move into an appeal."
