Defender could be a new injury doube for Mikel Arteta
Ben White was seen walking very gingerly to the tunnel after Arsenal's 1-0 Champions League victory away at Napoli on Wednesday evening.
The Gunners started their European campaign with a slender win in Naples courtesy of Martin Odegaard's goal 15 minutes from time.
White , who appeared to be in a little bit of discomfort in the closing stages, started the game at right-back but made way in the 82nd minute as Martin Zubimendi replaced him, with Declan Rice subsequently moving into the backline following the introduction of the Spaniard.
According to Daily Telegraph football reporter Sam Dean, who was present at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona for Arsenal's win, White was walking very gingerly when leaving the pitch come the full-time whistle.
All Arsenal fans will have their fingers crossed that White has not picked up an injury issue in the victory as fellow defenders William Saliba, Cristhian Mosquera and Jurrien Timber are currently on the sidelines at present.
The Gunners have a busy ten days on the agenda with three away fixtures prior to the first international break of the 2026/27 season.
Returning to Premier League action on Saturday evening with a game away at Sunderland, the north London face Ipswich Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup three days later before then travelling to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, September 19.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hailed his team's performance as "remarkable" after starting their Champions League campaign with an impressive win against the Italian side.
> "Very, very happy, the way we attacked the game from the very first minute, the way we competed, the excitement that we had, how we had to attack them, how we had to disorganise them, the purpose, the quality, the amount of chances that we generated," he explained.
> "For sure, again, the scoreline has to reflect a very different result. We will get there, because if we are a bit more precise, it will be much bigger, but to do what we've done today in this stadium against this opponent is remarkable from the team."
He added: "When you talk about people being clinical, the reality is that they score one in every five or six shots on target. That's being clinical. So, if we generate more volume, we will score more goals.
> "The number of players that got into this situation, the amount of situations that we were generating in various ways was something that pleased me a lot, and the fact that obviously it's 1-0 at the end.
> "To suffer, they had that situation with Kevin [De Bruyne] inside the box, that any other day something different could have happened, but I'm really pleased, because we won the game, and I think we fully deserved to win."
He has been a huge player for Arsenal in the absence of the injured William Saliba
