Andoni Iraola Isn't Seeing Liverpool Issue With Florian Wirtz
· GiveMeSport
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola overlooks key issues, including Florian Wirtz's poor form, in a shaky start to the season.
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola doesn't seem to be seeing a glaring issue, even though the Reds got away with it on Sunday against his former side, Bournemouth .
Heading into the international break, Liverpool secured a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth, but it was far from a convincing performance from the Merseyside club.
Liverpool currently sit in sixth position in the table, but their performances haven't hit the heights they would have expected.
Iraola's side have won just twice from their opening five Premier League matches, although they are unbeaten in the league.
There have been some poor individual performances for Liverpool so far this campaign, but none more so than Florian Wirtz.
The likes of Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez have struggled at times this season, but Iraola has looked to switch things around at full-back to try and find the winning formula.
One thing Iraola hasn't done, however, is give Wirtz a spell out of the team.
Iraola has started Wirtz in all five Premier League games for Liverpool this season, despite the German international struggling to hit the levels expected of him.
To put it bluntly, Wirtz has not been good enough for a side who are looking to finish in the Champions League places.
Wirtz looks like a shadow of the player who helped Bayer Leverkusen go unbeaten in the Bundesliga, and he's letting down his team-mates at the moment.
Iraola needs to take him out of the team if he wants Liverpool to start competing towards the top of the Premier League table, as there's no doubt it's simply not working out for him at Anfield.
There is a chance that Wirtz's price tag is impacting Iraola's decision-making when it comes to the attacking midfielder.
In reality, the club have to find a way for it to work with Wirtz, as they paid so much to bring him to the club.
They simply can't afford to let this signing go down the drain. Iraola is clearly looking to play him into form.
That might not be the best way for Liverpool to deal with him, though. Maybe a spell out of the starting 11 is what he needs to regain that confidence.
