Man Utd Fans Slam Michael Carrick For Picking ‘Washed’ Rashford vs Fulham

Manchester United fans are livid with Michael Carrick's decision to stick with one underperforming star who struggled vs Fulham.

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Alvaro Arbeloa's Fulham side at Craven Cottage. The result sees the Red Devils enter the international break with just five points from five games, as they sit 12th in the Premier League table.

After an uneventful first half, Fulham took the lead a quarter of an hour into the second half, with Lisandro Martinez scoring an embarrassing own goal.

Calvin Bassey had made a run down the left before shooting towards goal, with Senne Lammens only able to parry it away, falling to the path of Martinez when it rebounded into the United net.

However, United rescued a point late on in the game, with Matheus Cunha's outside-the-box effort taking a massive deflection, wrong-footing Bernd Leno in goal and giving United a point.

After the poor result for Michael Carrick's side, Manchester United fans were left particularly unimpressed with the performance of one of their players.

Marcus Rashford has struggled for form since returning to Manchester United after his loan spell in Barcelona last season. This game against Fulham was no different, with the English winger subbed off in the 77th minute.

He left the pitch with a shot accuracy of just 33%, with only two of his six efforts hitting the target. He also missed one big chance, as well as completing only one successful dribble.

He also lost two of his five ground duels, although he did win both of his aerial duels.

Carrick and Manchester United fans will be hoping they can see a better version of Rashford, who has scored 138 goals for the side from 432 appearances.

Fans were left unimpressed with what they had seen in the 77 minutes Rashford was on the pitch. He had high expectations after his successful loan spell in Barcelona, but he hasn't replicated his form in Spain.

During their game with Fulham, fans took to social media to express their concern with Rashford's performance.

One fan said via X: "He looks washed. Collecting a paycheck."

Another continued, "Carrick is making a mistake starting Rashford again and again, something past managers did."

A fan also claimed that continuing to start Rashford could result in Carrick losing his job, saying, "Marcus Rashford shouldn't be starting games for Manchester United. Michael Carrick wants to be sacked so desperately."

Another fan went along similar lines: "Rashford spent 18 months throwing shade at United and pushing for a permanent exit. We qualified for UCL without him. No one wanted him in the summer, so he stayed, and then walked straight into the starting XI and is costing us.

"Hilarious football club. Carrick is a coward."
