Man Utd Power Rankings After Fulham Draw

· GiveMeSport

We rate the Manchester United players and how they have performed so far this season

The 2026/27 Premier League season now heads into a long international break and things are beginning to shape up at both the top and bottom of the table.

For Manchester United it has been something of an ignominious start to the campaign.. Five games into the season, Michael Carrick's side sit 12th in the standings, with one win, two draws and two defeats.

After losing at Hull on the opening day of the season, they kickstarted their season with a 5-2 demolition job of Ipswich the following weekend.

But they did not kick on from there. A late Everton goal stopped them from recording back-to-back defeats, before an insipid display against ten-men in the Manchester Derby. From 2-0 up they lost 3-2 to Brighton in the Carabao Cup and then drawing 1-1 against Fulham on Sunday.

There have been some good performances from the United players, but some less than impressive ones too. Here GIVEMESPORT runs through Carrick's squad with our power rankings based on how the players have performed, only looking at those who have played minutes so far.

Has only played one match in the Premier League - the full 90 against Hull City - and has had a watching brief since then after a lacklustre display.

The youngster did get another chance in the Carabao Cup against Brighton, but did not cover himself in glory there either. With Carlos Baleba now fit and Benjamin Sesko and Amad Diallo still to take place in the starting lineup or the bench, chances look limited for the youngster now.

Does not look to have a role to play under Michael Carrick, with only restricted minutes off the bench so far this season. Never gets enough time to show if he is capable of leading the line or not.

Has had minutes here and there and scored in the defeat to Brighton in the Carabao Cup. Has too many other players ahead of him and does not do enough when called upon to show he deserves a regular spot in the starting lineup.

Got a start in the Carabao Cup, which, as understudy to Senne Lammens, is what he was brought to the club for.

Watched three goals fly past him as Brighton came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 and is likely to have to wait until the FA Cup now for another opportunity.

The defender is in a battle with Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez for the two places at centre-back this season.

Got 16 minutes in the win over Ipswich as United shored up the defence late on, but looked shaky as United gave up a two-goal lead against Brighton in the Carabao Cup. Looks on from the bench.

He is being kept out of the team by Diogo Dalot, who appears to be Carrick's first choice at right-back. And Dalot has hardly set the world alight.

Mazraoui has not done too much wrong when called upon, although he was part of the defence that shipped three against Brighton in the cup too. It will be interesting to see what sort of game time he gets this season as it moves on.

Bought for £50million from Chelsea but has not made his mark, nor made a first-team place his own as yet.

Started the first game of the season, but after a poor showing could only get ten minutes off the bench in the win over Ipswich and then six against Everton. Was also in the side for that Brighton disaster.

Started the opening game against Hull, but then lost his place following the return of Marcus Rashford.

Was called upon from the bench in the three matches after that and was in the starting lineup for the derby, at left-back with the injury to Luke Shaw. Will likely get more chances, but has not done a lot with his pitch time as yet.

The United defence has not looked the most solid so car this season, being exposed by Hull (although Martinez did not play in that one), Ipswich and Everton.

Was unlucky to see Erling Haaland's goal given, wrongly, in the Manchester derby, before having a bit of a nightmare against Fulham at Craven Cottage, all over the place at the back and scoring an own goal.

Seems to be the first choice at right-back for Carrick and while he has not done a lot wrong so far this season, he has not done a lot right either, drawing the ire of the Manchester United fans more than once.

It is in the full-back areas that United really need to improve.
