End of the Road: Madueke Fighting for Arsenal Career After Plans Emerge
· GiveMeSport
One Arsenal star is fighting for his career at the club after some transfer plans emerged from the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have had a picture-perfect start to their Premier League season so far, but one star may well be fighting to stay part of the project beyond this season.
The Gunners won the Premier League title last season with a dominant display, and Mikel Arteta bolstered the squad further with the arrivals of Bruno Guimaraes, Christos Tzolis and Ezri Konsa during the transfer window.
The strength of the squad has now been on full display recently, too, with a much-changed side cruising to a 4-2 win over Ipswich Town in the EFL Cup , in a game where the likes of Noni Madueke, Max Dowman, Viktor Gyokeres, and Martin Zubimendi made their first starts of the campaign.
Madueke, Dowman, and Mikel Merino found themselves on the scoresheet in that game, with the 16-year-old sensation stealing the show with his performance in the number ten role, scoring twice and seamlessly shining at the top level.
But the teenager is primarily seen as a winger at Arsenal, and the more he plays, the more obvious it is that he should be featuring more often for the champions despite his tender age.
Now it has emerged that the Gunners could be open to the sale of England international Madueke as a result of his emergence, with a number of Premier League clubs , plus Atletico Madrid and Juventus showing an interest in his services.
Those transfer plans have emerged after it was revealed that Madueke had been left out of Thomas Tuchel's first England squad since the World Cup, with 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha essentially taking his spot in the side.
That won't be good for him, and the fact he is falling down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium too suggests that he may find it harder than ever to get himself back into the fold going forward.
When everyone is fit, Madueke was already behind Bukayo Saka in the pecking order at Arsenal. But now Dowman is shining too, he could be third-choice in his favoured right-wing role.
After joining from Chelsea in a £52m deal two summers ago, the 24-year-old was touted as a potential option on the left too, but that seems unlikely to be a long-term solution for him.
It means that any opportunities he receives in the team between now and January will see Madueke essentially fighting to prove that he can still offer something to the squad. Should he fail, it could well be the end of the road for his time in north London.
