The flashpoint came in the second half with the hosts 2-0 up and cruising in a dominant display against the Hammers , who started the day top of the Championship table.

The shot stopper could be seen dabbing his shirt to his face in astonishment, before appearing to tell referee Paul Tierney: 'He spat at me.'

No sanction was handed to the striker after the accusation. West Ham have denied their player spat at Marschall.

According to Sky Sports, Millwall staff have lodged a formal complaint with officials. Daily Mail Sport has contacted Millwall for comment.

The Hammers went on to score two goals to leave The Den with a share of the points, with the game ending 2-2.
