Thomas Tuchel claims Man Utd star's behaviour is an issue amid England snub.

One of the hardest parts of the job for any international manager is simply picking each squad. Every time Thomas Tuchel names his latest England team, there are always some big names who miss out.

The likes of Phil Foden, Adam Wharton, Noni Madueke, Ollie Watkins, and Morgan Gibbs-White all missed out on his side for the upcoming international break. The latter's fiancée ecen took to social media to express her frustration after the Nottingham Forest star was snubbed.

This isn't the only example of a player and his family speaking out after not being included in an England squad.

Ahead of the 2026 World Cup , one of the most notable omissions from the Three Lions' team was Harry Maguire. The Manchester United star was said to have not taken the news well . His statement revealed obvious frustration:

> "I was confident I could've played a major part this summer for my country after the season I've had. I've been left shocked and gutted by the decision. I wish the players all the best."

Adding to the drama, his mother, Zoe, took to social media to post: "Absolutely disgusted."

At the time, Tuchel said he was "surprised" by the outcry from Maguire and his family, explaining: "We had a private conversation and he had the chance to express his feelings which he did and this is fair enough because I can see all the reasons why he could be in the squad. But, the decision is that we stood firmly with our central defenders that carried us through September, October and November.”

Maguire has 66 caps for England, with his last coming in the March break just months ahead of the World Cup. Prior to that, he missed out on 15 international fixtures, with Tuchel preferring the likes of Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa and John Stones ahead of the Man Utd ace.

Having left the 33-year-old out of his latest team, the German has now claimed that the behaviour of Maguire and his family has not exactly convinced him to rush the defender back into his squad. When asked about the player's very public response to his World Cup snub , Tuchel responded:

> “It does not help."

He did add: "I will not hold it against him for the rest of his life, because I’m not that type of person. I can forget easily and quickly," before damningly concluding:

> “But I didn’t like it and it doesn’t help. I’ve not spoken to him since.”

England will take on Spain, Czechia twice and Croatia in the extended international break, which runs from September into October.
