Furious Chelsea Fans Slam 'Selfish' Star After 3-0 Brentford Loss

Chelsea fans have hit out at Pedro Neto following a 3-0 defeat away to Brentford.

Chelsea fans have hit out at one of Xabi Alonso's men for a 'lazy' performance in their humiliating 3-0 defeat to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Friday night.

The Bees became the first team this season to prevent the visitors from scoring in the opening 10 minutes of a Premier League game. A closely-fought first-half ended without a goal for either side but the hosts were buzzing on the hour mark.

Jaidon Anthony scored his first goal since joining from Burnley in the summer, capitalizing on poor defending from a corner to head home. Alonso cut a frustrated figure having watched his side concede a 10th goal in just five games at the start of the season.

That turned into 11 in the 83rd minute when Keith Andrews' men broke forward and Igor Thiago netted from a rebound after Emiliano Martinez denied Kevin Schade. Fabio Carvalho made it three in the 90+4th minute to hand Alonso his worst defeat since taking charge of the Blues.

Chelsea had earned the tag of dark horses for the title following a blistering start to the Alonso reign but tonight served as a wake-up call that there is still work to be done. They couldn't break down a stern Brentford defence and Pedro Neto particularly struggled to impress.

The Portuguese attacker's future was the subject of speculation throughout the summer amid links to Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur . He won Alonso over, earning a starting berth in the Spanish tactician's side and put pen to paper on a new long-term deal earlier this month.

Neto is a polarising player amongst the Stamford Bridge faithful as some have their doubts over the 26-year-old. Tonight, he did little to get them on side, putting in an unconvincing display at right wing-back.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger found his man with just one of four crosses, lost possession 14 times and won just four of 11 ground duels. He wasn't the only one in Alonso's team to struggle, but he incurred the wrath of his club's fanbase.

Neto had otherwise started the season promisingly, scoring in Chelsea's 4-3 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in August. He has proven effective on the wing, linking up well with an in-form Cole Palmer.

That said, there are times Neto can frustrate, not letting go of the ball quick enough and getting lost in the game. These factors are why some fans aren't best pleased with the Portugal international following the Brentford defeat.

One fan on X bemoaned a lack of selflessness: "Again, if only Pedro Neto isn’t selfish, he would’ve been incredible."

Another supporter blamed Neto for Anthony's winner: "Goal was coming. All came from Neto being lazy to close down the corner quicker."

One gave a grim verdict: "Our RWB hasn’t been productive at all. Neto has been awful."

Another echoed this: "Pedro Neto is so annoying."

One added: "Pedro Neto should be taken off immediately. He's been below par."

Another wrote: "Pedro Neto you are brainless."

One said: "Neto has been a clown tonight."

Chelsea are keeping a keen eye on European transfer negotiations as their own valuation for a winger rises in line with the market.

Neto will have the international break to put tonight's display behind him and try and help Chelsea out of the first difficult period of Alonso's reign. They find themselves seventh in the Premier League table while Keith Andrews continues to amaze with his Bees rising to third, just three points off Arsenal and Manchester City.
