West London rivals collide under the lights

Good evening and welcome to our live coverage of Brentford vs Chelsea from the Gtech Community Stadium.

Friday Night Football brings us a fascinating West London derby between two sides separated by just one point in the early Premier League table.

Brentford begin the evening seventh after making an unbeaten start to their league campaign, collecting six points from their opening four matches.

The Bees have drawn their previous three league games but remain difficult to beat under Keith Andrews, while Tuesday’s 2-1 Carabao Cup victory at Reading extended their unbeaten run across all competitions.

Chelsea sit one place higher in sixth with seven points and have provided plenty of entertainment under Xabi Alonso.

The Blues have scored 10 goals across their opening four league matches but conceded nine, with last weekend’s 2-2 draw against newly promoted Hull extending their wait for a first clean sheet of the campaign.

There are also questions over the fitness of Joao Pedro after he withdrew from the Brazil squad through injury on Wednesday night.

Speaking before Chelsea’s final training session yesterday, Alonso refused to rule the forward out and said a late decision would be made over his involvement.

The Chelsea boss was similarly cautious over Moises Caicedo, Reece James, Marco Palestra and Jordan Henderson, with tonight’s team sheet set to reveal whether any are ready to return.

Meanwhile, Cole Palmer will hope to continue his impressive start after being recalled to the England squad alongside Chelsea team-mate Morgan Rogers.

The teams will be announced at 6.45pm, before kick-off at 8pm.

Stay with us throughout the evening!
