Man Utd Injury News: Carrick Drops Update on Shaw and Baleba

Michael Carrick has shared an update on the Man Utd squad ahead of their clash with Fulham on Sunday.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has dropped an update on his squad ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash against Fulham on Sunday.

The Red Devils have had a miserable week after falling to a 1-0 defeat against Man City thanks to a controversial Erling Haaland goal, before crashing out of the EFL Cup against Brighton in a 3-2 loss, despite having held a 2-0 lead just 10 minutes into the game.

The manager is now under considerable pressure from some sections of the fan base, having won just two games in all competitions so far.

United will now take a trip to west London to take on Alvaro Arbeloa's struggling Fulham side, and after seeing a number of first-team stars missing from action in recent weeks, that looks set to continue.

Luke Shaw has missed each of the last three games due to a knock, but Carrick has stated the injury was minor, and says he could now return to action at Craven Cottage, while Baleba could also be available for his first involvement.

> "There is a chance on both [Shaw and Baleba]really. Not totally 100 per cent yet.

> "It is really short term [with Luke], to be honest, but we're just working towards the game. So we'll see how he is."

Matthijs De Ligt, Manuel Ugarte and Amad Diallo all remain sidelined for the clash, with the former duo pushing to be included after the international break.

Man Utd have so far picked up a victory in just two games all season in all competitions, defeating newly-promoted Ipswich Town 5-2 and Azerbaijani outfit Sabah 4-0 in the Champions League.

The team have massively struggled with their defensive stability this season, conceding two or more goals in all but two games, and the return of both Shaw and Baleba would be a huge boost for Carrick ahead of the game.

It's unlikely that Baleba would be available to start immediately, but his presence and defensive nous could be key in the latter stages of the game, while Shaw's experience would likely see him replace Noussair Mazraoui at left-back.

United are desperate for a win before the international break, and this game is vital that they don't enter that period on the back of yet another negative result.
