MATT BARLOW: Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi said it would take time for the Ukraine international winger to get up to speed but his progress is halted by a setback in training.

Mykhailo Mudryk is expected to be out for up to two months after injuring an ankle in training just days after his first Premier League appearance in almost two years.

Tottenham ’s new winger, on loan for the season from Chelsea , made his debut as a 74th minute substitute in a goalless draw at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

It was his first taste of competitive football since his return from a doping ban which hit in November 2024.

Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi said it would take time for the Ukraine international winger to get up to speed but his progress has been halted by a setback in training.

It is a blow for De Zerbi who left Richarlison out of his Premier League squad because the Brazilian asked to leave in the summer.

Teenager winger Mikey Moore was released on loan to Cologne when Mudryk signed on deadline day.

Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert are recovering from serious knee injuries and neither is expected back this year.

Dejan Kulusevski is closing in on a return after more than a year out with a knee injury. Sweden boss Graham Potter said Kulusevski was ‘very close’.

James Maddison, also on his way back from a serious knee injury, has not started a game since before Kulusevski and picked up a shoulder injury coming off the bench against Brentford on the opening day of the season.

De Zerbi’s options to start up front against Everton are likely to come from Dominic Solanke, Omar Marmoush, Mathys Tel, Savinho and Mohamed Kudus.
