Chelsea vs Leeds - Carabao Cup RECAP: Blues win NINE-GOAL thriller after crazy second-half comeback
· DailyMail
Re-live Daily Mail Sport's live coverage of Chelsea's Carabao Cup game against Leeds from Stamford Bridge.
That, folks, is all.
Thanks so much for your company throughout. I feel like we've been through it. Probably the most mental half of football I've ever covered.
I'll leave you with Matt's report from the ground. For all his skill, talent, and experience, he had to pull that together. Fair play to him. You can read it by clicking here or below.
The Carabao Cup is done until next week, but we'll be back tomorrow for more Champions League coverage, with a focus on Manchester United for their game against Sabah.
Until next time! Cheers!
Valentin Barco scored the fifth to avert an anxious finale and Welbeck's second, deflecting a mis-hit Barco shot past Michael Zetterer, booked Chelsea into the fourth round.
Pedro Neto, Chelsea midfielder, Sky Sports:
Sky just showed a little clip of Rogers and Palmer before the interview started, and it's just fantastic.
They had been told that Palmer was getting Player of the Match, and Rogers was fuming! All fun and games, of course, but he was talking about his four assists, the fact Palmer scored a penalty, etc etc.
Palmer even offered to say Rogers should have got it, and Rogers joked that he is simply a bystander.
Two best mates tearing it up in the same team together. Just amazing. That's the dream.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, former Chelsea forward Sky Sports:
> I was ranting and raving at half-time about how poor Chelsea's depth is, how they looked like they hadn't played together, etc etc.
> But they brought on their stars at the break, and they showed what they are about. Palmer and Rogers are a serious duo. The best attack in the Premier League? Maybe.
> They will do plenty of damage this season.
Honestly. How do I even begin to assess that?
Chelsea were rubbish in the first-half. Absolutely pants. Leeds were great.
A quadruple half-time change saw the likes of Palmer and Rogers enter the field of play, but it was soon 2-0 to Leeds.
But then... it wasn't. Palmer, Neto and Welbeck ran riot, the Blues scores SIX second-half goals, and they're the side that go through.
Mental I tell you. Absolutely mental.
Some collapse from Leeds, by the way. From a team that has defended so well this season.
And that, one and all, is that.
Just the seven goals in the second-half, by the way. As you do.
Palmer wants his hat-trick. Rogers pulls it back on the edge of the box, and his mate tries to dink it. He gets it wrong, though, and it's over.
It is in! Palmer pulls it back, Barco shoots, it hits Welbeck and it's in.
I'm probably doing him a dis-service, actually. Barco slices it, and Welbeck directs it towards goal.
Just the eight goals this half.
A lovely, floated cross from Okafor sees Calvert-Lewin and Tanaka throw themselves at it, but it's just too heavy.
Alonso and Farke are deep in conversation on the touchline. I wonder what's being said.
We'll have six minutes added on.
Wilson is flagged offside.
