Morgan Rogers jokingly brands Cole Palmer winning player of the match 'criminal' in video after Chelsea's madcap 6-3 win over Leeds
· DailyMail
The introduction of Rogers and Palmer among four half-time substitutes had helped the Blues to fight back in the second half to secure a 6-3 victory over Leeds in the third round of the competition.
Chelsea had looked at risk of crashing out at the third round stage after trailing 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The introduction of Rogers and Palmer among four half-time substitutes had helped the Blues to fight back in the second half.
Palmer scored twice in three minutes, including scoring from the penalty spot, to bring Chelsea back level.
His second was one of three assists from Rogers, with the £117million summer signing also laying on goals for Pedro Neto and Danny Welbeck as Chelsea took charge.
Valentin Barco and a late second from Welbeck, either side of Dominic Calvert-Lewin netting for Leeds – ultimately helped Chelsea seal a 6-3 win to progress.
> 'Mate, I got four assists,' Rogers said. 'I can't believe that, that is mental, he scored a pen.'
Palmer responded: 'I started the comeback, I will shout you out, I'll shout you out and say you should have had it.'
Rogers continued with his mock outrage, adding: 'That is mental, don't mention me, I am just a bystander, that is criminal.'
When he was asked whether he would present the trophy to Palmer, Rogers quipped: 'I will unfortunately yes, it is rigged.'
Rogers, who had previously played with his close friend Palmer as a youngster at Man City, did underline his excitement at playing for Chelsea after their impressive start to the season.
> 'The environment, the players, the coaching staff have allowed me in and let me show what I'm about,' Rogers said.
> 'To play with this calibre of players makes my life a lot easier. I can show my ability to the best of what's possible, and it's a really enjoyable team to play in.
> 'You can see it [building something special]. There's a lot to work on and it's early days but seeing these signs so early, it doesn't normally happen quite this early.
> 'It's exciting but we've still got a long way to go and a lot to achieve.'
