Rodrygo has taken another step towards returning to action for Real Madrid, progressing to individual ball work on the training pitch as he continues his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury.

The Brazilian forward, who has been sidelined since March, is tentatively targeting a comeback in December .

Rodrygo progresses in recovery from serious knee injury

Rodrygo suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and medial meniscus in his right knee during a match against Getafe in March. He underwent surgery on 10 March, ruling him out of the decisive stages of last season.

The injury also ended his hopes of representing Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup under Carlo Ancelotti, a significant setback for a player who had been expected to feature prominently for his country.

The forward returned to jogging in September and has now progressed to individual ball work on the pitch. Although he has yet to resume full training with his teammates, this latest development represents further progress in a lengthy rehabilitation process.

Rodrygo has also been following a specialised body-recomposition plan during his recovery, with the aim of improving his physical condition and emotional well-being while working towards a return in December.

Posting images of himself training at Valdebebas on his social media earlier today, Rodrygo wrote: “Grateful for days like these.”

Real Madrid rule out loan offers as Rodrygo’s future comes into focus

While Rodrygo’s recovery is progressing, his place in Real Madrid’s attacking hierarchy is another matter.

Since his injury, Yan Diomande has joined the club and excelled in recent weeks, while Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. remain key figures in the team’s forward line.

Their presence raises questions about how Rodrygo will fit into the attack once he is available again.

Despite that uncertainty, as already reported , Real Madrid have informed the Brazilian’s representatives that they will not entertain loan proposals during the January transfer window.

The position indicates that the club are not prepared to sanction a temporary departure, even as the forward works towards regaining full fitness.

A potential return in December would give Rodrygo an opportunity to re-establish himself before the season enters its decisive phase.

However, his immediate priority will be completing his rehabilitation safely rather than rushing back to competitive action.
