Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi points finger after 'unfair' Liverpool loss

Tottenham have endured a disappointing start to the season and their hopes of progressing into the latter stages of the Carabao Cup were extinguished by Liverpool at Anfield
Robert De Zerbi was left frustrated by his players finishing in Tottenham's 3-1 loss to Liverpool but insists the final result was 'unfair'.
Spurs were dumped out of the Carabao Cup in the third round at the hands of Andoni Iraola's side courtesy of goals from Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai, who unleashed a thunderbolt in second half stoppage time to make the result safe.
The defeat means Tottenham have not won since they thrashed Charlton Athletic in the second round of the tournament, with their four Premier League games to date failing to yield a single goal for De Zerbi's men.
The club spent heavily in the summer after successive 17th placed finishes in the Premier League, including a club-record £100million outlay on Sandro Tonali as part of a midfield overhaul. But as scrutiny grows on the Italian and his new-look side following a demoralising start to the season, De Zerbi felt that Spurs were hard done by at Anfield.
Taking aim at Tottenham's finishing, he said: “We have to shoot more times and we have to shoot better. We have to finish better the clear situations.
> “But we are sorry for the result, disappointed, frustrated for the result. I think it is unfair but we have to accept it and be stronger than this unlucky moment because I am honest. Honest with myself and with you.”
Tottenham had drawn their two previous games, against Nottingham Forest and Everton in the league, 0-0 and De Zerbi went on to argue that his side have had no luck.

> “I think in this five or six games we have been, for sure, not lucky, Newcastle, with Everton, even with Nottingham and tonight as well.
> “We have to improve a lot of things because the first goal we conceded, we didn’t defend in the right way and the second goal we could be closer with Gakpo.
> “It is a tough moment but we have to be stronger to prepare our best for the next game.”
