Philipp Treu was one of the brightest talents showcased under Jürgen Klopp during the September international break. The SC Freiburg right-back jumped immediately into the squad and did everything asked of him—and perhaps more—catching the eyes of virtually all fans.

While Treu isn’t exactly a young prospect, the 25-year-old defender could have a large future ahead of him and seems like the answer at right-back after Klopp deservedly moved Joshua Kimmich back into midfield. Interestingly enough, when asked who impressed Treu the most during the international break, Treu was quick to name none other than Joshua Kimmich.

> “As a kid and teenager, I always looked up to him. It was impressive to get to know him as a person, but also to watch him on the pitch. It starts right from the warm-up. He’s already sweating while riding the bike and always gives 100%. You always hear about how extremely ambitious he is and how badly he wants to win—but experiencing that for myself was really cool. I can also take that mentality into my own life. He wants to win every game and always get the very best out of himself. That makes him a role model for many,” Treu told Bild , as captured by @iMiaSanMia .

While many fans were displeased by what Kimmich delivered on the pitch during the international break, his impact was certainly felt around the Germany camp and is making a big impression on the newcomers. While Kimmich might be a guaranteed starter with the national team, he will without a doubt remain a leader on and off the pitch moving forward.
