Man Utd Now Know Unai Emery is the Perfect Michael Carrick Replacement
· GiveMeSport
Man Utd now have a clear idea who should replace Michael Carrick as manager.
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is fighting for his job at Old Trafford, and the game on Sunday against Bournemouth is crucial.
The Red Devils have won just two of their 11 games in all competitions this season, and are winless in their last seven following a disparaging defeat to Como in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, as they were beaten 4-1 in Italy.
Carrick has since come out fighting, reading out a 6-minute rallying cry during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, calling for everyone to respect the club, and demanding that the players and staff step up to the challenge of representing the badge. rather than going out with a whimper.
But Man Utd fans, and Carrick himself, know that a poor result against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon could well be the end of a short-lived reign, with some fans having already turned against the iconic midfielder.
United have already begun sounding out potential replacements too. GIVEMESPORT sources understand that Julian Nagelsmann, Fabian Hurzeler, Antonio Conte, Eddie Howe, and Simone Inzaghi have all been earmarked as candidates , although Brighton boss Hurzeler has ruled out leaving the Seagulls mid-season.
Conspicuous by his absence, however, is Aston Villa boss Unai Emery, who recently celebrated four years in charge at Villa Park, and is considered to be one of the best managers in world football right now .
Emery celebrated that with a huge 2-1 win over Man City at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon, with goals from Nicolas Jackson enough to take all three points and end City's perfect start to the Premier League campaign.
That result comes after a poor start to the season, where the team failed to win any of their first three games and have been struggling for consistency after a summer transfer window that saw them lose a number of key first-team stars.
But the Spaniard has made zero excuses about the situation, and instead challenged his team and staff to step up to the challenge and deliver in a new era for the club. That is what Man Utd need, and bringing Emery in now would be a real statement of intent for what the owners intend for the future.
Emery signed a contract at Villa until 2029, and has got full control of almost everything that happens within the club. But he is limited by the fact the club must constantly sell top stars, are financially handicapped, and can only attract players of a certain standard.
Having previously had spells at Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, Emery knows what it's like to be at the very highest level, and he will undoubtedly want to return there if given the chance. Whether Man Utd can offer that right now, is a different question.
But INEOS should be looking very closely at the way the 54-year-old approaches management, and gets the best out of everyone in his team regardless of the situation, and be keen to instill that in their own club.
A bad window isn't an excuse at a club like Man Utd, and two wins from 11 is simply unacceptable. Emery will come in and turn things around, and can produce performances capable of beating even the best.
The performance of Villa against Man City on Saturday showed that, and while it may not have been an official interview or audition, INEOS should have seen everything they needed in that game to go all out and bring him to Old Trafford.
