Tottenham Scout 'Untouchable' Tomori, But They Must Act Quickly

Tottenham are said to be watching centre-back Fikayo Tomori ahead of a potential Janaury deal.

Tottenham are said to be considering a move for an AC Milan duo who are looking likely to leave the club in January, with Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek being eyed. Spurs finally have a silver lining in the form of a first Premier League win, which came against Coventry City last week.

Roberto De Zerbi was desperate for a win having overseen a disastrous start to the season on the back of the highest-spending window in the club's history. All is not well by any means, Spurs were expecting to compete for European qualification this season, and they currently find themselves just goal difference above the bottom three.

It's going to take more than a win over a newly-promoted side to ease concerns, and a date with a good-looking Chelsea side on Saturday is going to be yet another big test.

In the meantime, Spurs may be looking at ways they can improve even further in the January window, albeit without planning to spend silly money on the back of their big-spending January.

According to TeamTalk , English duo Tomori and Loftus-Cheek are growing increasingly likely to leave the Italian club, and it's reported the pair's agents have already started exploring potential moves. The Premier League may well be a preferred destination, and the report claims Tottenham are one of the Premier League clubs expressing an interest.

In fact, it's claimed Spurs representatives were at the Vitality Stadium to watch them in action during a 3-0 Europa League defeat to AC Milan on Thursday night. The Italian side endured a torrid evening after goalkeeper Mike Maignan was sent off early doors.

Loftus-Cheek, who is now 30 years of age, is out of contract next summer, while Tomori, who is 28 years of age, is in the same situation.

It's difficult to see what Loftus-Cheek would add that Spurs don't already have in Conor Gallagher, but they could always do with more centre-back options, and Tomori has been a solid performer for some time for Milan, regularly being hard done by with omissions from the England squad.

Tottenham's current centre-back options

Former England boss Fabio Capello described Tonali has one of Milan's 'untouchables' only last year, and while Milan have struggled since, he remains a reliable defender. Spurs could do with more of that experience despite adding Marcos Senesi, Jan Paul van Hecke and Tosin Adarabioyo in the summer.

Spurs have centre-backs, but they need to start shopping smart, and Tomori is a smart deal in the waiting. As things stand, Tottenham can sign Tomori for free next summer by agreeing a pre-contract agreement from January 1.

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi and his recruitment team need to make some big calls in 2027.
