Trent Alexander-Arnold’s spell at Real Madrid has been a difficult one, ever since he joiend the club on a free transfer from Liverpool.

The Englishman’s progress has been bogged down by injuries while he has also failed to get regular game-time under any of the coaches, including Jose Mourinho.

This has led to suggests that Real Madrid might be willing to consider the sale of the right-back, amid interest from Chelsea as well as other clubs.

Trent wants to stay

According to The Athletic , Alexander-Arnold is not too keen on leaving Real Madrid despite recent links.

Those close to the player have dismissed any speculation that the defender is unhappy at Santiago Bernabeu. In fact, Trent wants to fight for his place in the starting eleven.

The report comes in the wake of recent speculation linking him with a potential move to Chelsea in the near future and an early exit from the Bernabeu, even though the defender had signed a six-year contract with the club.

Mourinho must find a solution

Although it appears Trent is not actively looking for an exit, the onus is now on Real Madrid and specifically Jose Mourinho to find a solution to the Englishman’s slow development.

Trent has not been able to find a place in Mourinho’s starting eleven this season, featuring in just around 350 minutes of competitive action.

Mourinho has barely used the former Liverpool star in the right-back position, instead opting for Federico Valverde in recent matches.

The English international was recently deployed in midfield, but he failed to provide any real output or creativity. He has started only thrice in the league so far.

As Real Madrid gear up for the Clasico tomorrow, it will be interesting to see how Mourinho utilises the quality of Alexander-Arnold to good effect, although everything suggests he won’t be starting at Camp Nou either.
