Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois has this week provided his take on the less-than-flattering nickname attributed to teammate Kylian Mbappé by the media.
For those not aware, frontman Mbappé has long been christened the ‘dictator’ across the European press.
This comes owing to widespread claims that the 27-year-old has a say in almost everything which goes on behind the scenes at club and international level alike, from signings to managerial appointments, contract details and beyond.
Whether such claims are based in reality remains unclear, but Mbappé’s reputation appears all but set in stone.
Speaking during an exchange with the media this week, the aforementioned Thibaut Courtois was therefore drawn on his teammate’s dictator nickname.
And the Belgian, in his response, made clear that José Mourinho’s Real Madrid squad have long viewed the situation in a lighthearted fashion, explaining to DAZN:
> “Kylian Mbappé a dictator? We laugh about it in the dressing room all the time! We even sing the song… I think he finds it funny too.”
