Real Madrid star Arda Güler has provided a lighthearted explanation for his ‘theft’ of teammate Kylian Mbappé’s certain goal against RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

José Mourinho’s Real are of course fresh off a dominant triumph on the continent yesterday evening. After welcoming German outfit RB Leipzig to Spain’s capital for a Champions League clash, Los Blancos ran out eventual 4-1 victors.

The aforementioned Kylian Mbappé was amongst the scorers in the clash, directing a brilliant right-footed strike into the far corner from the edge of the Leipzig penalty area.

Earlier in proceedings, though, the Frenchman saw another goal-bound effort snatched away by one of his teammates. After Mbappé nodded a header towards the far corner of the visitors’ net, Arda Güler pounced to slot the ball over the line, making absolutely sure of Real Madrid going two goals to the good.

Speaking to the media following the full-time whistle, midfielder Arda was therefore drawn on his intervention. And the Turk, with a smile on his face, went on to insist:

> “I stole Kylian’s goal because I knew he was going to score another one!”
