Arsenal and Ipswich Town could be without five injured players between them for Tuesday night's clash. Both sides go into their Carabao Cup contest off the back of a victory.

Mikel Arteta's side maintained their 100 per cent start to the new campaign by beating Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light. Meanwhile, Ipswich secured their second Premier League win of the campaign with a dramatic 3-2 away victory over Crystal Palace.

The East Anglians and the north Londoners come together on Tuesday evening in the third-round of the League Cup, in which Arsenal got all the way to the final in last year before losing to Manchester City at Wembley.

Arsenal are sweating on the fitness of Ben White, who appeared to pick up a knock during the victory over Sunderland at the weekend, reports Football London.

White started the match at the Stadium of Light but was hauled off at the break after visibly wincing in discomfort at several points throughout the opening 45 minutes. White did not feature in any training pictures uploaded by the Gunners' media team on Monday.

Arteta offered no update on White's condition following the win on Wearside, leaving his availability for the Ipswich clash very much up in the air. William Saliba remains a long-term casualty for Arsenal with a back problem sustained while on international duty with France during the World Cup.

There is further doubt surrounding when Cristhian Mosquera will return to first-team contention, with the defender continuing his recovery from a muscle injury.

Arteta revealed last week that he anticipates Mosquera returning to action relatively soon, saying: "(Cristhian's) doing really well, let's see if he can get [back] for this game [Sunderland] or the next one," Arteta said.

Ipswich are also grappling with several injury worries ahead of their encounter with Arsenal, with midfielder Jack Taylor remaining sidelined with a knee problem.

There is also uncertainty surrounding whether Azor Matusiwa will be fit for Ipswich, with the midfielder having only just recovered from a thigh complaint.

Town manager Gary O'Neil confirmed last week that Matusiwa is ready for minutes, but cannot yet feature from the start.

The ex-Wolverhampton Wanderers manager said: "Azor will obviously be a little bit longer before he's available to start football matches, but he's ready for minutes now. We can start to get him back in and around matchday squads."
