Crystal Palace Set to Do Best Business After Deadline With New Dean Henderson Contract

Crystal Palace are closing in on getting their best bit of business done after the transfer deadline has passed by handing Dean Henderson a new deal.
Crystal Palace are on the brink of securing their best bit of business this summer after the transfer deadline has passed, with Dean Henderson closing in on a new contract.
The Eagles enjoyed a fairly strong summer transfer window as they held on to top stars like Adam Wharton and Jean-Philippe Mateta, while they also brought in ten new players to bolster their squad for new manager Pierre Sage, who replaced the club's greatest ever manager Oliver Glasner.
Oscar Mingueza, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Dwight McNeil, Anan Khalaili, Zavier Gozo, Dario Osorio, Axel Disasi, Honest Ahanor, Quentin Timber and Ben Chilwell all joined the south London side, with Palace spending around £80m.
Palace also sold a few players in the market, including wing-back Daniel Munoz, Maxence Lacroix, and Brennan Johnson, but it has now emerged that they are closing in on a deal that will arguably be their most important of the season.
According to journalist Alan Nixon , goalkeeper and club captain Henderson is closing in on an agreement to extend his contract at Selhurst Park.
Nottingham Forest showed an interest in the England international this summer, tabling a formal bid for his services to reunite him with Glasner at the City Ground. But the bid was immediately rejected, and they were told he is not for sale, such is his importance to the club.
Now, they have gone one step further to prove how much they love and rate him by handing him an extension that would extend his time at the club until 2030, while offering him a major pay rise on top.
So far this season Palace have had a mixed campaign. There have been some big changes within the club and that has led to a short period of instability, with fans worried about how their prospects for the season are looking.
Sage has won just one of their opening four games in the Premier League , against Fulham, while losing to Everton, Man City and newly-promoted Ipswich Town most recently. But with the manager still looking to implement his ideas and philosophy, being able to convince a top star of those ideas means a lot and should be a big boost to everyone around the club.
Crystal Palace have created a reputation for themselves as a club who develop young players and then sell them on for big money in recent years. Michael Olise, Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze, and Maxence Lacroix are the most recent members of that club, while there is an expectation that Adam Wharton will follow in the next 12 months.
But with Henderson, Palace invested in a young goalkeeper who was ready to excel, and they have been rewarded with one of the top stoppers in the country.
His mentality and leadership have seen him given the captain's armband now too, but his performance levels on the pitch have regularly been the difference between Palace getting a result or not.
Getting him to commit his long-term future to the club is a huge boost for Palace in a difficult spot in their season, and this deal will be better than any transfer they completed during the most recent window.
