Serge Gnabry happy to be back, hopes to do battle with Arsenal
· BavarianFW
Given his ties to Arsenal, it was only natural that Bayern Munich attacker Serge Gnabry was quizzed on what role he might play during the press conference ahead of the big Champions League showdown between the clubs. “Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala aren’t in the squad. > “Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala aren’t in the squad. I really don’t know who will play. The most important thing is to play a good game as a team. Arsenal won the league title and have a strong squad. It will come down to who plays the better game and who wants it more,” said Gnabry (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ). “A game against Arsenal, given my history, is always special. I’m happy to be back after a long injury layoff. I’m grateful for every minute I get. I need the game time to get back into shape. I’m happy when I play, but the most important thing is that we win as a team.
> “I have no explanation for my record against London teams. It’s all about winning. If I can contribute to a win, I ‘m happy.”
After Gnabry cleared up what his role might (or might not) be, he was asked about head coach Vincent Kom pany. The manager is dealing with an illness and a hip injury, but Gnabry is confident that whoever is on the touchline will get the job done.
> “The process remains unchanged. We have a top coaching staff. Things went well in Paris last season even when the coach was suspended. The guys are all doing an excellent job,” Gnabry s aid.
Someone who definitely will not be available is Michael Olise, who is suspended.
> “We just try to win the match. Michael is a very important player in our team who performs incredibly well. But a team is always prepared for the possibility of some one missing a game. We just have to give it our all tomorrow,” Gnabry said.
Finally, Gnab ry noted that if he gets the nod, he would not mind playing as the No. 10.
> “I feel comfortable in every [attacking] position; that’s certainly one of my strengths. Perhaps especially in the #10 position,” said Gnabry.
