The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have set their sights on the signature of a member of the defensive ranks at Premier League outfit Manchester United.

This comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana are giving real consideration to a move for Lisandro Martínez.

After missing out on as much over the summer, Deco and his Camp Nou transfer team remain on the lookout for left-sided centre-back reinforcements with a view to next season.

A whole host of stoppers have in turn been tipped to take their talents to Catalunya’s capital. And as alluded to above, early this week, a new name is understood to have emerged on Barca’s radar.

As per a report from Fichajes , citing transfer market insider Ekrem Konur:

> ‘Deco is closely monitoring the situation of Argentine centre-back Lisandro Martínez, currently with Manchester United. In Barcelona, they are seriously considering signing the Argentine defender on a free transfer.’

Martínez’s current terms at Old Trafford are due to expire next summer, and though Man United boast an option to extend his deal by another year, the 28-year-old is understood to be eyeing an exit at the earliest opportunity.
