FC Barcelona have suffered another travel setback after fog delayed their scheduled departure for Paris ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against PSG, reports Mundo Deportivo .
Following Saturday’s ordeal in Seville, Hansi Flick’s squad have once again been unable to travel as planned.
After beating Real Betis, Barcelona spent two hours inside their aircraft because of storms affecting the city before eventually having to spend the night in Seville.
The team have now encountered further disruption ahead of their crucial Champions League meeting with PSG.
Charles de Gaulle fog causes delays
Dense fog at Charles de Gaulle Airport has delayed the first team’s departure.
The Barcelona delegation, led by club president Joan Laporta, had been scheduled to take off for the French capital at 10.30 am, but the flight is now expected to depart more than an hour later than planned.
Other flights to Paris, including those arriving at Orly Airport, have also been affected. Flights carrying the special correspondents of the aforementioned outlet have experienced delays of up to an hour and a half for the same reason.
Press conferences and final training still scheduled
Provided there are no further setbacks, Barcelona are still expected to hold their press conferences with Pedri and Hansi Flick at 5.45pm.
The team will then complete their final training session at the Parc des Princes, the venue for Tuesday’s high-profile clash with PSG.
Top spot in the Champions League will be at stake when the two sides meet, adding further importance to Barcelona’s preparations despite the disruption to their travel plans.
The two teams are widely regarded as the best in Europe currently, making tomorrow’s encounter a highly-anticipated one for fans.
Barcelona and PSG faced off in the league phase last season as well, with Luis Enrique’s men prevailing on that occasion.
As such, Flick & co. will be eyeing revenge tomorrow at Parc des Princes, although they will go into the contest with a weakened squad as Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia have been ruled out due to injuries, joining Andreas Christensen and Roony Bardghji on the sidelines.
