Barcelona have an important week ahead, as they take on Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in their next couple of matches.
That is why the Catalans wanted to return to Barcelona early after their win over Real Betis, but their late night flight was cancelled due to thunderstorms and poor weather conditions in Catalonia.
The Barcelona squad was finally able to fly back to the city at 12 noon and are expected to return by 2pm on Sunday.
Hansi Flick hands squad a breather
Barcelona’s initial plan was to return late night and conduct an early training session at Ciutat Esportiva at around 11 am on Sunday.
However, due to the delayed flight and return back to Catalonia, Hansi Flick has decided to hand a breather to the entire team, reports Diario SPORT .
Effectively, Barcelona players won’t be training today and will carry out gentle and brief recovery work in the gym, after returning to Catalonia.
The players will then be allowed to return home. They won’t have to train until the day before the clash against PSG on Tuesday.
Barcelona’s training plan
The report adds that Barcelona won’t be able to carry out a training session until Monday evening at around 6:30 pm.
The training will be done at the Parc de Princes, with Flick choosing to prioritise the physical recovery of his players rather than risk overworking them during a packed schedule.
Fortunately, Barcelona players will receive a longer break after their return from Paris, as the Blaugrana are tipped to play three back to back La Liga matches at home.
Indeed, starting from the Real Madrid game, Barcelona will play three consecutive home matches against Los Blancos , Alaves and Aston Villa, respectively.
This will be a welcome boost for the club as they look to continue their winning momentum heading into November.
