Erling Haaland injury update delivered by Enzo Maresca with Arsenal on title race red alert
· FootballLondon
Erling Haaland was on target again yesterday, but then hobbled down the tunnel after Man City beat Ipswich Town in the Premier League at the Etihad
Enzo Maresca said he hopes Erling Haaland did not suffer a serious injury after he limped off the pitch following Manchester City’s 3-2 win over Ipswich Town. The 26-year-old left the pitch at full-time and looked in discomfort, raising doubts he could be sidelined.
The Norwegian had earlier struck twice to take his goal tally for the campaign to 12 in all competitions and move his side six points clear of Arsenal in the table having played a game more. Haaland had taken a blow to the foot late in the game and appeared to be struggling but Maresca is hopeful the issue is minor.
> He said: "We will see. I asked him and he said he was OK, so hopefully it is nothing serious."
Maresca, who became the first manager in Premier League history to win his first seven matches as City maintained their 100% start to the campaign, revealed a number of others had also suffered knocks.
> He said: “Unfortunately in 10 minutes we had four of five players – Matheus [Nunes], Kova [Mateo Kovacic], Erling, Antoine [Semenyo] and Nico [O’Reilly] also - but they are inside now and we will see."
The Gunners, though, have the chance to close the gap at the top of the table to four points with a victory over Nottingham Forest.
> And speaking on Friday, Arteta said: "We have responded really well in the last two games, two very good performances and results, and now we just focus on the game against Forest, which I know is going to be a really tough one.
> "We're going to try really hard to score goals and to prevent goals as well. It’s going to be a really tough match, they’re an extremely well-coached team.
> "We know that, we already have experience with Oliver [Glasner] in the past and they’re a team that at home can create a really special momentum, so we are ready for it."
> He added: "We are getting criticised for scoring goals! Regardless of the manner that we score them, the team is showing a great attacking flow.
> "We've scored some beautiful goals but the value is exactly the same. I think we have to be a team that is able to score in many, many ways and that will make it harder for the opponent."
