Eric Dier (32) has been a mainstay in the AS Monaco defence this season, however, he is set for a period on the sidelines, Filipe Luís has confirmed.
The England international sustained a quadriceps injury during training on Wednesday, ahead of Thursday’s game against CSKA Sofia in the UEFA Europa Conference League. Luís confirmed the injury during Saturday’s press conference, revealing that the former Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich man would miss around two to three weeks of action. “It could be more, it could be less,” added the Monaco manager.
It means that Dier is now in a race against time to feature before the November international break. It is an injury that comes at an inopportune time, given the Principality club’s upcoming UECL games against Freiburg and Nordsjaelland. Both come before the international break, which begins on 9th November. Monaco have cover in the form of Mohammed Salisu and Christian Mawissa.
