In a rather strange stroke of bad luck, Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany is dealing with a hip injury. The 40 year-old often trains with his team, correcting positioning and offering tips on the go. Whether he sustained the injury during one of those training sessions is yet to be revealed. However, board member for sport Max Eberl confirmed that Kompany will be present for the UCL game against Arsenal on Wednesday.
> “Nothing stops him from being with the team. He sat on the bench, so it wasn’t a big problem. He didn’t actively coach the team on the sideline. Aaron [Danks] and René [Maric] took over, it shows how harmonious the staff is. I assume it won’t be a problem on Wednesday,” said Eberl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ).
The 6-1 rout against RB Leipzig allowed Kompany to be relatively relaxed as his assistants took over his role at the sidelines. However, the game against Arsenal will be more intense, and we can expect the Belgian to step out occasionally to pass on key instructions directly to the players himself.
