Liverpool kept back-to-back clean sheets with a draw against Fulham, and Jeremy Jacquet turned in another impressive performance.

Liverpool supporters are scrambling for some positives to take following a disappointing 0-0 home draw against struggling Fulham on Saturday afternoon, but the performance of summer signing Jeremy Jacquet is certainly cause for optimism.

Andoni Iraola is still getting his feet under the desk at Anfield and the new manager will have been disappointed not to follow up a midweek Champions League triumph against the Cottagers, who had lost all three of their opening Premier League fixtures.

Nonetheless, there was a second consecutive Premier League clean sheet for the first time since February and Jacquet played a big role in that, looking worth every pound of the £55 million forked out for his services.

Jacquet has started every fixture of the season so far, being thrown in at the deep end by Iraola despite being just 21 years old. Against Fulham , he looked his best yet.

A goal-line clearance and last-ditch tackle on Gonzalo Garcia were moments to remember, but the player's performance was much bigger than just those two interventions for Liverpool .

This Is Anfield led a deep dive into the player's statistics, noting a 34.6 km/h recovery pace as the quickest speed of all his teammates. Jacquet's composure on the ball was also highlighted by playing the most line-breaking passes (16), as well as the most accurate passes and having the most touches of the ball.

The former Rennes man looks the real deal and, with his ball playing abilities, has everything that managers want in a modern defender.

Iraola has tried to play down the hype surrounding Jacquet, but there is little the Liverpool manager can do when he keeps turning in performances well beyond his years. After the player's debut, Jacquet said: “I think he had such a good first game that it’s almost dangerous!

> "We will put the level there for him, ‘this is your level and this is what we expect from every game. I’m very happy for him and now we wish he can continue and he can grow. We know he will make mistakes.

> "He is very young, new in the Premier League. We have to accept this. But we trust him.”

The £55 million fee paid by Liverpool is a huge sum for a centre-back. It may be early days, but the feeling is certainly that Jacquet will be worth much more than that in the years to come.

At just 21 years old, the coming seasons should see rapid growth, which is frightening given just how good the player is already.

How much could Jacquet be worth in the future? With five years left on his deal, and the club holding the option for another year, there's a real possibility the defender could become the first in his position to be sold for over £100 million... although Liverpool and Iraola won't give credence to the thought of his departure any time soon.

Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw by Fulham at Anfield.
